Reported weekly by the U.S. EIA as one of five regional cuts of the national jet fuel series. Midwest jet fuel keeps Chicago O'Hare flying alongside the overnight air-freight superhubs at Memphis and Louisville, so this district's stock level is a read on passenger and parcel volumes at once.
Since 2015, today's reading ranks in the 89th percentile. Midwest jet fuel stocks are running above the modern era's typical level. It is in line with its same-week five-year average. Across the full EIA record back to 1990 it ranks in the 69th percentile; storage capacity, pipelines, and production have shifted enough since then that the modern cohort is the better yardstick for today's operating conditions.
